High-Performance Wood Fibre Panels

Tricoya® — High-Performance Wood Fibre Panels Without the Traditional Limits of MDF

Tricoya® is a high-performance modified wood fibre panel engineered for applications where conventional MDF would struggle. Using the same acetylation technology behind Accoya® wood, Tricoya combines the design freedom and machinability of MDF with exceptional dimensional stability, durability and resistance to moisture and fungal decay.

The result is a panel that can be specified with confidence in exterior, wet and moisture-prone environments — opening up entirely new possibilities for architects, designers and manufacturers.

The freedom of MDF. The performance of Tricoya®.

The Technology Behind Tricoya®

The Performance of Accoya®, in a Panel

Tricoya® is manufactured using wood fibres modified through acetylation — the same proven technology behind Accoya® wood. The process reduces the fibres' ability to absorb moisture, dramatically limiting the swelling and movement normally associated with MDF.

The result is a highly stable and durable panel that retains the smooth surface, consistency and machinability designers value in MDF, while delivering performance suited to wet, humid and exterior environments.

Why Tricoya®?

MDF Without the Traditional Limitations

Exceptional Dimensional Stability

Tricoya® experiences dramatically less swelling and movement than conventional MDF, helping panels, profiles and detailed components retain their shape, tolerances and clean lines.

Wet & Exterior Performance

Its resistance to moisture and fungal decay enables Tricoya® to be used in bathrooms, exterior cabinetry, fascias, soffits, doors and other applications where conventional MDF would not normally be considered.

50/25 year warranty

Built for Long-Term Durability

Durability Class 1, backed by a 50-year above-ground and 25-year in-ground warranty, provides confidence for demanding, long-life applications.

Made for Manufacturing

Tricoya® can be cut, drilled, profiled, CNC-routed and coated using conventional woodworking equipment, while its smooth, consistent surface provides an excellent substrate for high-quality painted finishes.

Where Can Tricoya® Be Used?

Applications Across the Build

Exterior Doors

Stability Where It Matters

Door panels are particularly vulnerable to moisture and dimensional movement. Tricoya provides a highly stable substrate for painted and detailed doors, helping reduce the swelling, distortion and deterioration associated with conventional wood-based panels. It is particularly suited to exterior doors, door skins, decorative panels and moisture-exposed applications.

Bathrooms & Wet Areas

A Different Approach to Moisture-Prone Interiors

Bathrooms and other wet areas can be challenging environments for conventional MDF. Tricoya allows designers to achieve the seamless, painted appearance of MDF in applications where moisture resistance and stability are essential.

Exterior Cabinetry

Take Cabinetry Outdoors

Tricoya opens up new possibilities for purpose-made exterior cabinetry and joinery. Its dimensional stability and durability make it well suited to outdoor kitchens, braai areas, poolside cabinetry and other exterior built-in applications, where conventional MDF would not be appropriate. Panels can be CNC machined, detailed and coated to achieve the same refined appearance expected from high-quality interior cabinetry.

Fascias, Plaster Bands & Exterior Detailing

Crisp Architectural Details, Built to Last

Tricoya® provides a stable, machinable solution for fascia boards, plaster bands, soffits and decorative exterior detailing. Its low moisture movement helps profiles retain crisp edges and straight lines while providing a consistent substrate for high-quality painted finishes.

Gates, Screens & Architectural Features

Detailed Form, Engineered to Last

Tricoya can be used to create bespoke exterior elements where detailed machining and dimensional stability are important. From CNC-routed screens and gates to decorative architectural panels, the material gives designers considerable freedom in form, pattern and finish.

Signage

Precision-Engineered Branding

Its durability, smooth surface and ability to be precisely CNC machined make Tricoya particularly suited to exterior signage and detailed branded elements.
