Question 1

What is the best timber for doors and windows?

Accepted Answer

Accoya® is widely regarded as the best timber for exterior doors and windows. Its acetylation process gives it exceptional dimensional stability — roughly 80% less swelling and shrinkage than untreated wood — so doors and windows don't warp, twist or stick. It holds a Durability Class 1 rating, the highest resistance to fungal decay, and carries a 50-year warranty above ground.

Question 2

Why is Accoya better than other woods for exterior joinery?

Accepted Answer

Compared to traditional hardwoods like meranti or teak, Accoya is more dimensionally stable, doesn't rot (22 times more resistant than pine), is certified for termite zones, and its coatings last up to 3x longer. It is also FSC® certified and Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold with Platinum for material health.

Question 3

Where can I buy Accoya doors and windows in South Africa?

Accepted Answer

Resolute Timbers is Africa's exclusive distributor of Accoya® and Tricoya® modified timber, supplying raw planks and bespoke purpose-made joinery — doors, windows, decking and cladding — from Cape Town to projects across South Africa.
